How to use TrueBlue Scout

Learn how to check providers, track your list, and understand what the data means.

Check one provider

On the home page, search by the provider's name or Australian Business Number (ABN).

By name

Type the provider's business name and click Check. If the business name has changed over time, the Commission might have several records under slightly different names. Searching by ABN is more reliable if you have it.

By ABN

If you have the ABN (11 digits, like 51 824 753 556), search by that instead. An ABN is unique to a business, so you'll get all the records for that entity even if the name has changed.

Where to find the ABN: On the provider's website, in your plan documents, or on the Australian Business Register (ASIC).

What "No actions found" means

The NDIS Commission has not published any compliance action against this provider as of our last update. This does not mean the provider is perfect — it means the Commission has not taken official action like issuing a banning order or compliance notice.

It's still worth checking the provider's registration status and references before deciding.

Check your whole list

If you work with many providers, the "Check a list" page lets you check up to 5 ABNs (free) or 300+ if you have a plan.

How to check a list

  1. Go to /list
  2. Paste one ABN per line, or upload a CSV file with an ABN column
  3. Click "Check list"

We check each provider against three official sources:

  • NDIS Commission compliance register — published compliance actions (banning orders, compliance notices, etc.)
  • NDIS provider register — registration status, conditions, expiry date, and approved service types
  • Australian Business Register — ABN status (Active, Cancelled, etc.)

Download results as CSV

After checking, click "Download results (CSV)" to get a spreadsheet with all the details. You can keep this for your records or share with your team.

Understand the results

Each provider shows four pieces of information:

Compliance actions (the purple "things to check")

Any compliance actions the Commission has published. Read the details — some are old, some have ended, and some are minor. This is not a recommendation for or against the provider.

Registration status

Whether the provider is currently Registered, Revoked, Suspended, or Not on the register. We show:

  • Registration status
  • When the registration expires (if active)
  • Any conditions (e.g., required to conduct regular audits)

ABN status

Whether the ABN is Active or Cancelled on the Australian Business Register. If an ABN is cancelled, the business may no longer be operating.

Things to check (facts that need a look)

If we notice a mismatch between official records — for example, the ABN is cancelled but the provider is still registered, or the legal name differs from the registration — we flag it. These are facts, not judgments. You decide what they mean.

Track changes to your list (coming soon)

After checking a list, you can join our waitlist for list tracking. We'll check your providers every week and email you only when something changes:

  • New compliance action published
  • Registration status changes
  • ABN status changes
  • Registration expiry date coming up
  • No changes (reassurance email)

List tracking is a paid feature (included in Silver and Gold plans). We're building it now — join the waitlist to be notified when it's ready.

What the data means

Where does this data come from?

We use only official sources, published by Australian government agencies:

  • NDIS Commission: compliance register and provider register (updated weekly)
  • Australian Business Register (ABR): ABN status and business details (updated hourly)

We don't use AI to score providers or make judgments. We show you the facts and let you decide.

How recent is this data?

The date at the top of the results shows when we last checked. The data itself may be older — for example, the Commission might have published a compliance action three weeks ago, but we updated our copy yesterday.

What if a provider isn't on the register?

If a provider doesn't appear in any of our sources, it might be:

  • Not registered with the NDIS Commission — they may not provide NDIS services
  • Registered but no ABN on file — we check by ABN first, so we might not find them by name
  • ABN is inactive — the business is no longer operating

If you think the provider should be registered, contact us and we'll investigate.

Why no "safe" or "risky" score?

One bad compliance action doesn't make a provider unsafe. One clean record doesn't mean they're perfect. We show you the facts and let you make the decision based on your context, the participant's needs, and your values.

We're built for a vulnerable audience. Oversimplifying the data with a score would be irresponsible.

Common questions

Is this an official government website?
No, we're an independent service. We use official data from the NDIS Commission and Australian Business Register, but we're not run by the government. We're built by people who work in disability support.
Why can't I search by participant details?
We only check businesses and registered providers, never participants. This protects people's privacy and keeps the service simple.
Can providers pay to improve their record or rank higher?
No. We never take money from providers. Our information comes from official government sources only, and we never hide or promote any provider based on payment.
What if I find an error in the data?
If you notice a mistake — for example, a provider's name is spelled wrong — contact us. We'll check the original source and correct it if needed.
Can I export this data?
Yes — results from "Check a list" can be downloaded as CSV. If you need a custom export or API access, ask about our plans.
How often is the data updated?
We check the NDIS Commission register every Monday morning (Australian time) and update the ABN status daily. The Commission updates its data regularly, and we're usually one to two weeks behind.
