What these numbers mean
Participants are NDIS participants living in the council area, as at 30 Jun 2026. Providers are Approved registrations of this type with a published outlet in the area, or their head office if they publish none. About half of outlets have no published location, and many providers travel to participants, so a low count is a signal to look closer, not proof of a gap. Areas with fewer than 100 participants aren’t ranked.

Questions
How do I buy, and can I cancel?
Pick a plan above, sign in or create a free account, and pay by card on Stripe’s secure page. An Area report is paid once and lasts 30 days. Partner and the Solo add-on renew until you cancel, which you can do any time; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
Where does the data come from?
Registered providers and their services come from the NDIS Commission’s provider register. Participant numbers come from NDIA public data (© National Disability Insurance Scheme Agency 2013, CC BY 4.0) and council areas from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Every number shows its source and date.
How often is it updated?
The register is reloaded about every 10 days and the counts here are refreshed every hour. NDIA participant data is loaded twice a year, in March and September, and provider counts by council area every day.
Do you rank providers?
No. We rank areas, never providers, and we don’t use AI to score anyone.
I’m on Team. Will I pay extra?
No. Every Team user gets Market Scout automatically, including extra users.
Why “head office state”?
The register gives every provider a head office. Many also list outlets in other states. The council-area ranking uses outlet postcodes where they are published, and the head office otherwise.
What the numbers can’t tell you
- Participant numbers are published by council area, not suburb.
- Only registered providers are counted. Unregistered providers also serve self-managed and plan-managed participants.
- About half of outlets have no published location, and many providers travel to participants.
- Participant numbers show likely demand, not proof of it.
- There’s no public data on waitlists, prices, workforce or audit costs.
- This is market information, not investment or business advice.
